Why Train for Life?

Meet Ryan Marcinkevich

I’ve been asked when running mountains, on the field, In the ring, on the mats and inside gyms what it is that I’m training for?

No matter the sport I’d been focused on at the time the answer has always been “for life!” I could have been getting ready for a boxing, mma, jiu jitsu, or kickboxing match, a tough mudder, football, hockey, or endurance event but, all of them have had the main goal to keep me moving and improving for life while having fun. We train for life in the gym by working on strength and mobility through controlled and explosive full ranges of motion using bodyweight, kettlebell, and olympic lifts.

Over the years I’ve been blessed with quality coaches in the gym. I’ve learned firsthand from Dunmore’s legendary King Joe, when he came into our Scranton Knights football weight room and taught the importance of effortlessly controlled power cleans, squats, deadlifts, and other strength training techniques. At the time he was in his 70s and moved better than most of us young boys.

A torn meniscus led me to Ben Patrick’s “kneesovertoes” system to help myself return from injury and later learned to coach the program myself while gaining Level 2 ATG coaching certification. I am a holistic health student and hold a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, with over a decade of experience coaching and competing in mma, bjj, boxing, and kickboxing.

Success Stories

Here are just some of the success stories we get daily.

"From a shattered foot on the side of a cliff to the joy of climbing a mountains again just six months later, my recovery felt like its own adventure. Ryan was my guide through it all. With his tailored program and upbeat approach, we tackled every challenge together. His encouragement and know-how made the journey feel a lot less daunting. Thanks to Ryan, I'm back doing what I love, with a newfound appreciation for every step I take. Climbing might be about reaching new heights, but with Ryan's help, it's also about enjoying the climb."

"Even after just 3 sessions I definitely see a big improvement in my range of motion and movement overall. My back is also getting better still not perfect but definitely feel the improvement. Appreciate the work you've done for me."

My man @ryanmarcinkevich gave me the tools to help my elbow and also showed me work to keep my lower back loose enough for jiu jitsu training. Hit him up!

"After a stress fracture in my lower back when I was 17, I was always afraid to do compound moves like squats and deadlifts. I would constantly have setbacks, stiffness, and pain. Ryan helped me build from the ground up, perfecting my form with no weight, now I'm doing exercises that I would have never tried previously. His system helped build my hip and core strength and now I have virtually no pain when strength training my back and lower body."
